Our Trip to the Natural History Museum

We saw lots of amazing things at the museum. We stood underneath huge dinosaur skeletons, touched fossilised dinosaur eggs and saw the only complete Dodo skeleton in the world!

During our wild adventures we have started to learn about dinosaurs! We have been learning different dinosaurs names, where they lived and what they looked like - their claws, teeth, spines etc. We had an amazing time meeting Nancy a bearded dragon who had very similar attributes to dinosaurs!

Happy new year!

Welcome back, we hope that you have all had a lovely Christmas break.

This term our topic is 'Wild adventures'

Welcome back to Term 2 Elm Class! We hope you had a fantastic, and restful half term.

The weather has definitely changed and there is a real chill in the air. Please make sure children have a warm coat, hats and gloves with them everyday. Lots of our learning happens outside!

Also, please note that children should only have water in their bottles. Juice/squash is allowed at lunchtime and should be kept separately on the shelf in the cloakroom. Many thanks.

Below is a copy of this term's Homework Grid. We will shortly be sending out a personalised one for each child with their next steps in learning on. Please look out for it and focus on these targets as they are what we will be working to achieve in class.

The main focus of the children's home learning is their reading. Please keep up with all your reading at home. The children have learnt lots of letter sounds so should begin to be sounding out and blending some of the short words in their books. Please write in the children's reading diary when you have read at home and send their book bags into school everyday. Thank you for supporting your child in this way. We really do notice a big difference in their reading when they do it at home regularly.

As always, please pop in and see Mrs Turner or Mrs Harrison with any comments or concerns.

Term 2 - Topic Overview

Term 2 - Home Learning Grid

We enjoyed the beautiful weather during Nature detectives and found lots of Autumnal objects on our Autumn hunt.

We had a great time making bread rolls just like the little red hen!

We have been very busy in our first term at school! We have enjoyed investigating all areas of our environment inside and outside.
Welcome to Elm Class

Our topic this term is 'All About Me'. We are really looking forward to getting to know all the children. We have an exciting term ahead with lots of fun stories, games and songs.

As always, please come and  talk to us with any issues or concerns.
