Welcome to Beech Class.
Hello my name is Mrs Steele and I am the teacher in Beech class.
I have been working at CPS for 8 years and love the school because everyone is so friendly, caring and supportive. I even came to the school as a child too! I enjoy going for walks, cycling, spending time with family and friends and reading - I can't wait to share some of my favourite children's stories with you this year. My favourite colours are purple and blue.
I have 3 children, they are in year 5 and year 9. We also have a very fluffy and friendly dog called Holly, she is a Cavachon who likes walks but is not so keen on cats.
Other adults that work in our class are:
Mrs Woodham-Davies - Key Stage 1 Cover Supervisor
Mrs Savage – Teaching Assistant
Mrs Russell – Teaching Assistant
Learning in Year 1 is hands on and exciting - with lots of new knowledge to develop but also new skills to learn. Joining in is vital and helping others is a great thing to do - we can all help and support one another. We will continue to build on the fantastic foundations that you will have developed in reception. We will have a combination of some whole class learning, some smaller group learning, as well as plenty of time for independent learning and exploration within our indoors and outdoors environment. We will be developing your wonderful knowledge of phonics to help us to become confident readers and independent writers.
You will need to bring the following into school each day: Book Bag, Water Bottle and Lunchbox (if you will be having home packed lunches). The following will be needed depending on the weather: Sun cream, coat, wellies, hats and gloves.
Please could your child’s belongings be clearly labelled with their name – Thank you.
Home Learning – more information will follow at the start of term.
Please be aware that we will not be expecting children to change into PE in Term 1 they will be coming into school in their PE kits - I will confirm PE day at the start of term.
I can't wait to welcome you all in September and am so excited about the year ahead.
See you soon
