Hello lovely Cherry Class,
I hope you have been making the most of your time with your families and have loved seeing all the work you have been up to! It is amazing how much resilience and perseverance you are showing in keeping going with everything! I am going to upload some Easter activities below to keep you thinking about school.
I hope you are enjoying the lovely weather and taking some time just to relax and enjoy listening to all of the natural sounds, I have noticed so much more bird song!
Have a fantastic holiday and I am still around and contactable if you need me.
Good morning Cherry class,
What glorious weather we have been having this week! I hope you are all happy and healthy and making the most of your time at home with your families. I have some bad news about the carrot tops... they have gone moldy! I'm not sure what went wrong but they are dying, perhaps I'm not as green fingered as I thought! Sorry carrot top group, I tried my best.
I have loved getting the photos of your home learning and it is lovely to see how busy you have been keeping yourselves. I have used some of my time to record some chapters of 'Fantastic Mr Fox' by Roald Dahl for the school website and will continue to record the whole book. Mr Young has said that if you would like to record your favourite book we can also add those to the podcasts too!
I hope as we go into week 2 you keep up the momentum and continue with your home learning. Please find week 2 attached below.
Happy home learning,

Hello Cherry Class,
I am writing to you from a very empty classroom and reflecting on what a marvellous class you have been so far this year! I know you are all hard workers and will continue to keep busy at home and I can't wait to see what you send me so that I can continue to see you develop as readers, writers and mathematicians. I will update the class page every Friday with some activities and work for you to do at home so keep your eyes peeled. I will also post carrot top updates! I have my fingers crossed that we can grow our carrot tops into fully fledged plants!
Just a reminder that your times tables rock stars logins are in the front of your home learning books.
If you requested online work from next week it will be available to you on here. I have done paper copies for next week for those that requested paper copies and I am sure the school will contact you with how to collect those. For now, please see below for week 1 work.
Welcome to Cherry Class!
I hope you had a fantastic Summer break and are ready for the year ahead! We have lots of different things to cover this term. In English we are looking at 2 focus books, 'Only One You' and 'The Noisy House'. We will be using these texts to write lists, captions and labels as well as creating our own stories. In maths we are focusing on place value, counting and addition. Science will be looking at growth and survival, both in humans and animals and in art we will be producing self portraits. Our topis is 'All About Me' so we will be looking at where we live and the history of Carterton as well as things that make us individuals.
Please come to this page to see photos and for any messages.
You will find the overview of the term below.
I look forward to meeting you all,
Hello everyone and welcome back to a new half term and the build up to the most magical time of the year ( I can't bring myself to write the 'C' word yet!)
We have lots to fit in over the next six and a half weeks and lots of exciting topics to explore including super scientists and great explorers! Alongside this we will be continuing to develop our love of books with a focus on a Michael Morpurgo book, 'Coming Home' ( which was used as a John Lewis advert one year) and also 'The Christmas Truce' which is all about the football match played in no mans land during the 2ndWW. We will also be taking part in the KS1 production so keep your eyes peeled for more information and dates for this big event! Please find the medium term plan and the new 50 point challenge below.
Hello and Welcome back to Spring term.
I hope everyone had a fantastic break and feels ready to get back to school and get learning! This term our topic is the Arctic and we have lots of exciting activities planned so that we can learn as much as we can in these six short weeks leading up to the half term holiday and the half way point of the year. Please can I remind parents that reading at home is crucial in your children making progress in all areas of their learning and that we do have the reading challenge up and running in school to promote reading to your children. They will receive a special sticker from Mrs Wells for reading 25 times, a wristband for reading 50 times and a certificate for reading 100 times so really try to read every night and ensure it is written in their reading records as this is the place we take the number of reads from.
As was the case last half term, we have PE on Thursday and Friday afternoons and it is essential that all children have their kits in school for these sessions. We are outside on Thursdays so please make sure your children have warm clothes that they can put on top of their t-shirts and shorts, we will continue to go out throughout the winter as long as it is dry. On Fridays we are doing gymnastics in the hall so PE kit is also essential there for giving the required range of movement.
Looking forward to all of the learning we will be doing these next few weeks,
Hello and welcome back to term 4!
The year is flying by and we have a really action packed half term coming up. We are looking at growing plants in science and will be planting our own seeds and bulbs and watching them grow. We are looking at the four seasons in topic and have some lovely books to look at as our focus in English. In maths we are going to be looking at fractions, shape and time. If your child has a watch with a numbered face and hands please can they wear this as part of their uniform as it will mean we can be telling the time all day everyday!
PE remains the same on Thursdays and Fridays. Please make sure your child has appropriate clothing for these sessions.
Also this term we have science week, world book day and sports relief so keep your eyes out for information about those.
Looking forward to a busy yet fun half term,
