Family Support

I am here for you as parents/carers any time you need it.

I can talk you through an Early Help Assessment, give advice and strategies for behaviours/sleep etc. at home, be a supportive link between home and school, can signpost you to organisations outside of school or to simply be someone who listens and understands what is going on for you and your family.

Please feel free to email me: khaig@cps-sch.org.uk or call the main school number on: 01993-842502 and ask to speak to me directly.

I work in school on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Supporting Children and Young People in school

From friendship and peer pressure, social media and academic expectations there are lots of aspects of modern life that can lead a child or young person to feel stressed, anxious or worried.

The Children's Society (2019) reported that 1 in 8 children aged 5 - 19 had a mental health condition - that's 4 children in a class of 32.

I work as part of the Pastoral Team and offer one-to-one individual support sessions to all children in school who value the time to talk, be listened to and to offer support, strategies and techniques to help them. These sessions take place during the day at a time arranged with their teachers.

The work I do with a child helps to remove barriers to learning whilst also supporting their wellbeing and mental health.

Nurture Groups

I also plan and run all the nurture groups in school.

I run these groups:

Boosting Self Esteem

Friendship/Social Skills/Emotional Literacy

Family Changes/Bereavement Support

Understanding Anxiety and Worry

Resilience

Handling Anger

All nurture groups are offered to children in KS1 and KS2, who are identified by their class teachers, and run in small, supportive groups for 30 minute sessions one afternoon a week for up to 6 weeks.
