Carterton Primary School

Carterton Primary aims to provide a lifelong love of learning.
Providing a happy and secure environment for learning and growing in confidence.
Sharing a community that promotes success for everyone.

After all of your hard work this term, we hope you have an enjoyable and restful half term.

We have attached some Maths and English work that if you would like to complete parts of, then please feel free to. This is completely optional though and even if you do complete some, there is no expectation for you to hand it in.

We are still contactable via email so if you would like to get in touch, to share what you've been up to or to ask any questions, then please do so and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Thank you once again for your continued support and dedication towards our home learning. It is very much appreciated.

Keep safe,

Miss Barden and Mrs Lewis

Thank you to everyone who has uploaded work/ kept in touch this week. It's been great to hear how you've all been getting on. And well done to all of you who have uploaded photos of your D.T projects - we've been very impressed with the amount of work that has gone into them. They are incredible!

This week we will be looking at Maths, English and P.E, with a different session everyday. The P.E session vary from circuit type activities to yoga and mindfulness, so hopefully something for everyone.

Next week will be half term so we will put some 'fun' activities up on the website but these are obviously optional and there is no expectation to complete them.

We hope you have all had a good week and are keeping safe.

Miss Barden and Mrs Lewis

We hope you have had a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend and managed to enjoy the glorious weather.

This week we have some Maths, English and Design Technology activities for you to complete. Although we ask that you register every day, please don't feel pressure to complete every activity, every day. We know this is a difficult situation and we don't want the home learning to be something causing stress and anxiety.

We are really impressed with the amount of work and the quality of work that has already been uploaded and we understand this must have taken a lot of time and effort to complete. Well done Pine Class (and your wonderful adults!) You are super stars!

Stay safe,

Miss Barden and Mrs Lewis

Thank you so much for all of you who have been in contact this week, uploaded work and responded to feedback. We appreciate all of your hard work and enjoy finding out what you have been up to.

This week we will be working on money in maths, exploring the Silent Red Book in English and The Big Blue Book for reading. We will continue our work on Everyday Materials in Science and also look at some Music. Please find the documents attached below.

We hope you have had an enjoyable weekend,

Miss Barden and Mrs Lewis

Wow! What an excellent first week back to Term 5. We have been so impressed by all of your hard work this week learning about length, Handa's Surprise and The Great Fire of London. The work you have uploaded has been of a high standard, showing just how much effort you are putting in. Well done! We don't expect you to upload every piece of work (although we of course welcome it if you do) but it would be nice to see at least one piece of work per subject each week so we can see how you are getting on and give feedback.

This week we are going to learn about Oliver's Vegetables, Time and Everyday Materials in Science. We're looking forward to seeing all of your wonderful work. Please see below for the attached documents.

Remember, Mrs Lewis is live on Google Classroom everyday between 10-11 am and Miss Barden is live between 4-5 pm everyday to answer any questions you may have and to look through your work. As always though, we are always contactable by email and will get back to you as soon as we can.

We hope you have enjoyed the glorious weather this weekend and are all keeping well and safe.

Best Wishes,

Miss Barden and Mrs Lewis

Welcome back to Term 5!

Attached is the work that will be set on Google Classroom this week for Maths, English and History.

Please go in to White Rose maths, Home Learning for Y2 and click on Summer Term Week 1:  https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/
and use the videos for the lessons to help you with answering the following questions. As we thought we'd start the term with the topic of 'Measure', the lessons you will need on Whiterose for this week are the following;

Monday - Measure in cm (Summer Term Week 1 Lesson 3)

Tuesday - Measure in m (Summer Term Week 1 Lesson 4)

Wednesday- Compare lengths (Summer Term Week 2 Lesson 1)

Thursday - Order lengths (Summer Term Week 2 Lesson 2)

Friday - Four operations with length (Summer Term Week 2 Lesson 3)

You will find the work sheets to complete next to each lesson. Aim to complete one lesson each day.

Each week we would like you to complete two of these pick and mix reading tasks. (See attached). Reading is the most important thing for us to be keeping on top of during this time away from the classroom.  It is the key to everything you will go on to do!

Here is a bank of work around the fantastic story 'Handa's Surprise'.  There is an activity for everyday this week and each activity should take around 30 mins per day

to complete.

As an optional extra, if you would like to pick one activity a week from the writing 'Pick and Mix' then please do. This is so that we can continue to build up those writing miles!

Send over any work you are proud of and would like us to look at.

Our History topic this term is The Great Fire of London. Attached are some slides to read through and follow-up activities. Aim to do one lesson each day.

If you have any questions or if you would like to show us any work that you have completed, please email it over- we would love to see it!

We hope you are all safe and well,

Miss Barden and Mrs Lewis

Happy Easter, Pine Class.

You have all been working so hard, well done. The examples of home learning you've sent us are fantastic.

The Easter weekend is almost here, time to relax and enjoy the time with our families.

Here are some fun activities for you to have a go at in between enjoying the beautiful sunshine.

Thank you so much to all of you who have emailed updates and sent pictures/videos of what you have been getting up to over the last few weeks. It has been a very strange time and we are missing Pine Class very much! Hearing your news and seeing your work has certainly brightened up our days smiley

We have decided to upload some Easter activities for you to get on with, if you so wish. There is no expectation to do so, but if you would like to give them a go then they are here for you to do.

Please do keep in touch over the Easter Holidays and if you would like to share any news (perhaps your egg rolling competitions? Best decorative egg? Easter collages? etc) or work then it would be lovely to hear all about it.

We hope you are all keeping safe.

Miss Barden and Mrs Lewis

Good morning,

We hope that you are all well on this very strange Monday morning.

Here are the work packs for the next two weeks. We thought it would be useful to upload both now in case we have difficulty doing this later. There won't be work packs for what would have been the two week Easter break, but look out for uploads starting from Monday 20th April, if we are in the same situation.

Take care and keep safe everyone,

Mrs Lewis and Miss Barden

Welcome to Pine Class

Term 4

Welcome back! We hope you enjoyed the week and that the wet and windy weather did not disrupt your plans.

We were incredibly impressed with the 50 point challenge presentations that the children brought in before the holidays. Well done! Please find our new 50 point challenge below, liked to this terms topic - Gardener's World.

If you would like more information about what we will be covering in each subject, please take a moment to read the overview for this term.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to catch one of us at the end of the day.

Mrs Lewis and Miss Barden

A few things to remember:

  • Outdoor PE will be every Tuesday and Indoor PE will be every Friday. PE kit should be in school everyday. As the weather is cold at this time of year please ensure that your child has the appropriate clothing for outdoor PE.

  • Book bags and reading records should come to school everyday.

  • Please read to and with your child as often as you can. This is very important to help them practice the skills we learn in phonics lessons, to improve fluency, and encourage a love of reading.

  • If your child is going home with someone else, please inform one of the adults in the class.
