Swan (Y 3/4)
Welcome to Swan Class!
Hello, I am Miss Lane. I teach Swan Class. I am new to CPS this year and I am really looking forward to meeting the children and teaching them this year. I have moved to the area in the last year and am looking forward to exploring more.
Organisation
Our school day begins at 8.35am, please ensure the children arrive promptly as activities are planned from 8.35am and the register is taken by 8.45am. The school day ends at 3.15pm. Please drop off and collect children from the classroom.
Our PE days are Tuesdays and Fridays. The children will need to come to school wearing their PE kit which should be school uniform PE kit. If the weather is warm, please ensure children have a hat and sun cream.
Homework will be given out on a Wednesday and is due in by the following Tuesday. The children will have spellings to practise and times tables to learn. These will start from Week 2, and a Parenthub will be sent out with details.
If you have any questions, please speak to us at the beginning or the end of the day. You can also contact us via the office office@cps-sch.org.uk.
Best wishes
Miss Lane
Reading
Reading holds the key to learning in almost every other subject and learning opportunity - it is difficult to access a History topic without developing reading skills as an example.
We expect each child to read beyond school hours. We suggest 3-5 separate occasions each week. We suggest each night from Monday to Thursday and then an additional session between Friday and Sunday - they may read more of course! This should be a mix of independent reading and reading aloud to someone. It should be recorded in their reading record each time they read outside of school. It is no coincidence those that read regularly see the biggest improvements in writing also.
Each child has a reading diary to record their reading experiences and these are being checked on a Monday.
It is important to foster a love of reading, so we appreciate your support with this.
